Shot Counter troubleshooting on Dr. Dish Home, Home V2, Rebel+, All-Star+, CT+, CT, or FCLTY models

If your Dr. Dish Home, Home V2, Rebel+, All-Star+, CT+, CT, or FCLTY model isn't counting made shots accurately here is a step by step troubleshooting guide, by model, to help you identify and resolve the issue.

Tempo Issues -

Please note the machine is designed to count one made basket per ball launch. This means that it tracks whether the ball associated with each individual launch results in a made shot. If the player does not take the shot before the next ball is launched, the system cannot reliably link the shot to its corresponding launch. As a result, only one made basket will be counted, even if multiple shots go in. At faster tempos this can lead to confusion about which shot was successful.

    1. Tip - To ensure accurate shot tracking, we recommend using a tempo that allows each shot to be completed before the next ball is launched. The appropriate tempo will vary from player to player, and may take some trial and error to find a suitable tempo setting.

  1. Verify Cable Connections - The first step in troubleshooting the shot counting system is to ensure all cable connections are secure. Inspect the entire length of visible cable for any signs of damage, such as cuts, or pinches. There are 3 main connection points to check outlined below.
    1. Power Board Connection - Please ensure the P3 connection is firmly seated into the Power Board. This can be done without removing the shroud, but may be easier with it removed.

    2. Net Frame Connection - This connection is located about 2 1/2 feet off the ground on the rear frame of the machine. There may be heat shrink around this connection which may be removed if necessary.

    3. Counter Head Connection - This connection is located about 5 1/2 feet off the ground directly above the Net Frame Connection point. It is the connection point between the wire on the Net Frame and the wire on the Shot Counter Assembly.

  2. Testing Shot Counter Cables - If made shots are still not being counted accurately after verifying the cable connections we can do some further testing to determine where the issue is. This will be done by bypassing the Net Frame cable. Please see the video guide below on this process.

  3. Intermittent Issues - If you continue to have intermittent issues of made shots not being counted, there are a couple of possible causes.
    1. Net Interference - Please ensure the Net attached to your Basketball Hoop is not interfering with the Shot Counter Paddle.

  1. Verify Power Board Connection - Ensure the P3 Cable connection is firmly seated into the P3 connection on the Power Board. This can be done without removing the shroud, but may be easier with it removed. Re-test the Shot Counting Function after reseating this connection.

  2. Inner Frame Connection Points - Please ensure that the connections shown below are secure and that there is no damage to the clips. We recommend having two people to perform this step as checking the connection in the base frame will require you to disconnect the rear frame from the machine.  If there is damage discovered while going through this process or the issue remains unresolved please contact our Support+ team.
