Written Guide

  1. Remove Old Potentiometer
    1. Remove Both Shrouds
    2. Cut Zip Ties: Carefully use wire cutters to cut any existing zip ties on the P18 connector cable to give slack to the wires.

    3. Disconnect Cable: Pinch both sides of the P18 cable connector and slide it down and out. Feed the cable from that side of the machine to the other side, where the potentiometer is.

    4. Loosen Clamps: Use a flathead screwdriver or socket to loosen the upper and lower hose clamps until they can spin freely on the hose.

    5. Remove Bracket Bolts: Use a 4 mm hex wrench to remove the two bolts (each with a lock washer and flat washer) that secure the entire mounting bracket assembly to the machine frame.

    6. Remove Assembly: Slide the entire potentiometer and bracket assembly out of the machine.

    7. Remove Hose: Wiggle the hose off the static main shaft.

    8. Separate Old Pot: Use a 12 mm wrench to remove the large nut holding the old Potentiometer to the bracket. The bracket will be re-used!

  2. Install New Potentiometer
    1. Mount to Bracket: Insert the new potentiometer into the bracket, aligning the small plastic tab on the pot with the notch in the bracket.
    2. Secure: Install the new lock washer and nut provided with the part, tighten with the 12 mm wrench so it's nice and snug but not over-tight.
    3. Prepare New Hose: If using a new hose, slide two hose clamps onto it. Pre-tighten them slightly so they stay in place but can still rotate freely.
    4. Reassemble: Slide the hose onto the static main shaft of the machine.
      1. Insert the new potentiometer shaft into the top of the hose.
      2. Secure the mounting bracket to the frame, with a 4mm hex wrench, using the original bolts and washers.
    5. Reconnect Cable: Plug the new wire harness into the P18 port and power on the machine.
  3. Manual Potentiometer Calibration: ***Please note the body of the machine will need to be positioned as if it were being used to shoot from the Free Throw position (facing center) for this process to be completed successfully***
    1. Connect Power and App: Reconnect the machine to the power source and turn it on. On your control tablet or phone app, navigate to Support > Troubleshooting > Calibration and look at the "Potentiometer" value.
    2. Find Center Point:  Tighten the top hose clamp, securing the hose to the Potentiometers shaft in the hose.
      1. With the lower clamp still loose, use pliers to rotate the hose until the value on the screen is as close to 500 as possible (400–600 is acceptable).
    3. Tighten Lower Clamp: Once the value is as close to 500 as you can get it, tighten the lower hose clamp firmly so it doesn't slip during operation.
      1. The Potentiometer value will change as you are tightening the lower hose clamp. This is normal and expected. Keep an eye on the value to keep it close and at least in-between 400-600 while you are tightening it.
    4. Secure Cables: Replace any zip ties you removed earlier to keep the wiring tidy and away from moving parts.
    5. Run Full Calibration: Complete the standard rotation calibration process in the app to ensure the machine recognizes the new center point.
      1. You can locate the calibration process at the following menu location in the App. More > Support > Troubleshooting > Calibration
    6. Reinstall Both Shrouds
